Red List of Endangered Flora in the State of Paraná (SEMA, 1995) - Graphs updated

Start year: 2019

End year: 2020

Funding Source:  Project “GEF PróEspécies: National Strategy for the Conservation of Endangered Species (funding source)

Contractor: World Wide Fund for Nature - Brazil (WWF - Brazil)

Management Team: Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Tourism (SEDEST-PR)

Executing Team: Sociedade Chauá and Mater Natura

The update was carried out by technicians from Sociedade Chauá in partnership with Mater Natura – Instituto de Estudos Ambientais, within a contract established to review lists of species of regional occurrence (SP-PR) within the scope of the Project “GEF PróEspécies: National Strategy for the Conservation of Endangered Species (funding source). The contractor WWF-Brasil and the management team of the State Secretariat for Sustainable Development and Tourism (SEDEST-PR) authorized the publication of these data in order to collaborate with researchers and to expand the dissemination of data.

All species names underwent spelling updates, based on the List of Flora of Brazil (FLORA DO BRASIL, 2020) and carried out through the online tool called Plantminer (CARVALHO et al, 2010). For the names that were not on the Brazilian Flora List, synonyms were searched at the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF.org) and https://www.tropicos.org/home. Some names could not be properly updated, because they did not show accepted synonyms in the List of Flora of Brazil, they were kept with the original name that appeared in their lists. It is noteworthy that there are updates of spellings of species previously considered infrequent in Paraná, but which are currently synonymous with common species. The database was formatted using the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group version IV (APG, 2016) and related plant classification system.
